Senior Accountant

Description:

We have an opportunity for the position of Senior Accountant. Selected individual will shoulder the senior level responsibilities, supervise one full-time and one part-time employee and report to president of the foundation

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Update the banks on daily basis to control financial liquidity.
  • Observe the flow of funds from and to the multiple channels and properly classifying all incomes and expenses.
  • Assist with month-end analysis of banks and other income and expenses schedules, including posting of standard accruals and adjusting entries.
  • Prepare monthly inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) entries.

Position Type: Full-Time

The Executive Director will provide direction and leadership towards the achievement of the vision, mission and strategy of Al-Furqaan Foundation for its Quran Project division. The Executive Director is responsible for the day to day operations of the Quran Project, by leading and supervising, hiring and evaluating all staff, motivating and directing volunteers, managing the division’s finances and resources, building relationships and networks across organizations in the U.S. The Executive Director will be the main public spokesperson for the Quran Project, and therefore must have an impeccable religious background and a commanding presence. The position calls for effective public speaking skills, including delivering Khutba’s in masajid around the country, and excellent communication abilities. The position is a highly public, high profile position and the Executive Director should be comfortable working at a national level. The Executive Director will serve as the head of the Quran project nationally, managing direct reports from regional offices around the U.S and Canada. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and management to assure the proper implementation of the vision and strategy of the nationwide Quran Project

  1. Ensure that the Quran Project Division is professionally run, self-sufficient properly staffed around the country and is financially secure

Al-Furqaan Foundation, a well-known non-profit Islamic organization in North America is looking for Regional Managers to be positioned in the following regions:

Job Description:

  1. Be a regular musallee in the masajid in the local area and develop long lasting relationship with the imams and management of the masajid, in line with the foundation’s objectives.
  2. Secure at least six to eight Jumah khutbas and fund raising bookings per month at the local and surrounding states masajid, at least one such event for the month of Ramadan and one during any other month of the year from every masjid in the region.
  3. Deliver Jumah Khutbas at the masajid and conduct fundraising activities depending upon Al-Furqaan’s requirements.
  4. Choose Khateebs from the local contacts and make arrangements for their travel etc. to masajid in the region where the khateeb will deliver khutbas and conduct fundraising activities while the Regional Manager will be doing the same at another musjid on any given Friday.
  5. Conscientiously and consistently, transfer the collected funds to the foundation bank account immediately after each event and keep the accounts department abreast of all expenses and revenue situations on a weekly basis.
  6. Coordinate with the Fundraising Director on daily basis and keep his office abreast by weekly reports.
  7. Be available for any important Islamic convention in the region and participate to secure the foundation objectives and meet the targets on regular basis.
  8. Keep the foundation abreast with the fund raising activities of other organizations in the region and continue to promote the interest of Al-Furqaan Foundation in the community.

Principal

Position type: Full Time

The Principal is an excellent manager, communicator, mentor, teacher and counselor. The candidate must possess strong public relations and networking skills. The Principal serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. Qualifications:

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Principal is accountable to the Academy Steering Committee and reports directly to the Executive Director of the Academy Franchise
  • The principal is an employee of Al-Furqaan Foundation and is responsible to run the affairs of the school as per the guidelines detailed in the school’s operational guidelines.

Vice-Principal

Position Type: Full-Time

VP will work directly under the principal and help coordinate, direct and plan the academic or auxiliary activities of the school, will manage the teachers, counselors, staff and students on a daily basis. Master’s degree in educational leadership, education administration or a similar field with significant experience is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the principal on a daily basis to ensure the smooth overall operation of the school.

Development Manager

Position Type: Full-Time

The Development Manager is responsible for leading the institution and franchise advancement program and reports to the Executive Director of Furqaan Academy. The Manager will also be responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with board members, donors and administration at various school locations.

Specific areas of responsibility across all franchise schools includes:

Fundraising:

  • Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment and capital campaigns, special projects, and other school-related solicitations.
  • Manages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
  • Maintains contact with and develops grant proposals for foundations and corporations.
  • Develops and implements parent and class-based fundraising programs within the Annual Fund.
  • Develops a comprehensive planned-giving program as the need becomes appropriate.
  • Develops and implements social media / crowd sourcing programs to enhance fundraising.

Board Relations:

  • Works with the Development Committee of the Board, Executive Director and the Principal to develop strategies to initiate and meet aggressive fundraising goals.
  • Develops fundraising training for board and other leadership volunteers.
  • Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies, and attends Board meetings/Executive meetings as needed.
  • Assists the Board with recommending and researching potential new donors/supporters.

Development Office Infrastructure:

  • Creates office systems to support all Development projects and operations.
  • Supervises donor and gift record-keeping.
  • Coordinates development research activities.
  • Oversees the management of databases and all records, files, and gift processing.
  • Manages the pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs.

Parent Relations:

Works with Parent Committees to identify and train a core groups of volunteers to assist in the Annual Giving, special events and other fundraising programs as needed.

Public Relations, Marketing, and Advertising:

  • Works closely with each school’s administration and the Principals to develop public relations plan and an advertising plan.
  • Designs and oversees production of all major publications, including the newsletter, the Annual Report, the School’s website, and working with designers and printers to promote the school’s fund and fundraising goals and activities.
  • Creates and implements a communication and promotional plan for the Capital Campaign.
  • Develops and implements strategies to promote school’s mission to both the internal constituencies of the School and the community at large.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years professional fundraising experience, preferably in Islamic environment.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing development.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, parents, administrators and faculty.
